Student Government Positions

Are you interested in gaining applicable skills in leadership and communication while giving back to the OSU-Cascades community? Joining the Associated Students of Cascades Campus will provide great opportunities with life-experience, connect you with high-ranking campus officials, and allow you to make friends on campus. Requirements for each position can also be found in our constitution.

Elected Positions

President

The ASCC President serves as the primary leader and representative of the of the Associated Students of Cascades Campus. They are responsible for organizing and presiding over weekly meetings, overseeing executive operation, and ensuring effective communication within the student government. The ASCC President represents the student body in university and state-level decision making. The President is responsible for making sure that ASCC works to advocate for student needs.

Vice President

The ASCC Vice President serves as a leader within the Associated Students of Cascades Campus, supporting the President and stepping into their role if a vacancy occurs. The Vice President chairs the Student Fee Committee by managing involvement in budget-related and co-curricular councils. They also asssist in executing initiatives approved by the ASCC. The VP oversees critical administrative functions, manages student fees, and represents the student body in university and leadership meetings.

Director of Legislative Affairs

The Director of Legislative affairs organizes and directs student voices on ASCC, OSU, and other outside organizational priorities. They gather student testimonials, sign students up for lobby day, and recruit students in civic engagement. To accomplish this they direct and organize tabling, class raps, surveys, and receive feedback on ASCC legislative priorities.

Associated Students of Cascades Campus (ASCC)

Director of Student Affinity Experiences

"The Director of Student Affinity Experiences works in collaboration with The Bridge student center as the student mentor for all campus affinity groups. This position will be charged with leading affinity group meetings, providing institutional support for all student led programming for year-round heritage and history months, and will work alongside the Belonging and Equity Coordinator in creating and maintaining inclusivity and diversity in and outside of The Bridge."
 

Director of Graduate Student Affairs

"The Director of Graduate Student Affairs works to represent graduate students within the ASCC council. This includes voicing opinions and voting on legislative affairs. This position also works to plan events and professional development programming for graduate students using student fee money. As the only designated graduate student position within Student Life, this position works as a liaison to the various cohorts and academic partners within the Graduate School." ​​​
 

Director of Sustainability

"The Director of Sustainability Initiatives will serve as a student sustainability advocate for OSU-Cascades. They will assist with campus-wide sustainability initiatives, represent the student body on the OSU-Cascades Sustainability Subcommittee and OSU Sustainability Advocates Committee, produce sustainability events, encourage offices and labs to achieve OSU Green Certification, and collaborate with community organizations to advance sustainability priorities."
 

Director of Student Advocacy

"The Director of Student Advocacy is the director of the Food Pantry on campus, runs the Child Care Subsidy Program, as well as manages the Safer Living Kit Program. This position also enacts any other programming that is for the students of this campus. This position's job is to represent the student's voices as best as possible and create programming for the students to enjoy or essentially make their day-to-day lives easier."
 

ASCC Chief of Staff

"The ASCC Chief of Staff is responsible for managing ASCC's email accounts, assisting members with projects, and managing communications with external partners. They are responsible for creating ASCC agendas and taking thorough meeting notes in order to document meeting discussions."

Student Fee Committee (SFC) 

SFC Vice Chair

The SFC Vice Chair is responsible for managing the subsidy programs for SFC, and is the "second in command" for the committee in times of the Vice President being unable to complete duties.

 

SFC Operations Analyst

The operations analyst works with the chair and the vice chair for keeping meetings organized, historical records up to date, and management meetings and office scheduling for SFC.

 

SFC Communications Liasion

The communication liasion position(s) work with student fee funded units to make sure unit needs are being meet for funding, being in the loop about student programming and employment, and providing feedback to and from SFC.

 

SFC Budget Strategist

The budget strategist is a specialized position that works with the chair and the vice chair during the annual budget planning process for the university.  Specifically, the work to keep student initiatives at the forefront of the budget process, and help gather information necessary for planning.

Judicial Affairs Committee (JAC)

JAC Vice Chair

This position works with the Director of Legislative Affairs (DLA) to plan annual goals, projects and keeping information up to date related to public meeting law.  This position is new for 2026-27, and will being being built under the direction of the ASCC Executive Team.  The JAC Vice Chair also is in line to fulfill the duties of the DLA should they be assigned to special projects or should the position be vacant.

 

JAC Policy Coordinator

The JAC policy coordinator works closely with public records for student government, the state and local legislative processes, and specifically with the ASCC constitution and bylaw.  They serve as a primary researcher and writer related to these documents, and is assigned relavent work per the direction of the DLA.

 

JAC Member at Large

This position serves as a voting member of JAC, but most important is an entry-level positions for students to learn about student government to build intrest in all functions.  These positions can be assigned work beyond the hourly expectations by the DLA at the approval of ASCC for things like information tabling, putting on events, and other student engagement opportunities.
