Experiential Learning Options

 

For Kinesiology, you choose how you earn your three credits of experiential learning — through internships, research, or studying abroad. The best part is you get to take your classroom learning on a test run while boosting your resume.

KIN 401 Research

KIN 401 Research - Take this course if you’re pursuing academic research with a faculty member or working in one of our on-campus labs. The hours and expectations are arranged with the faculty through overseeing the research. These credits are variable between 1-16 credits.

KIN 493 Internship

KIN 493 Internship – Take this course to get “hand-on” experience in a work setting. Internship experiences may include shadowing, assisting with data collection, operational tasks at the site, interacting with clients, and more! As part of your internship, you will submit assignments reflecting on your experience and designing/implementing a project or program at your site. Internships need to be pre-arranged and approved in advance. These credits are variable between 1-16 credits.

Study Abroad

Take courses abroad to gain international hands-on experience through ϳԹվ’s . Activities may include participating in international health projects, assisting with community fitness programs, engaging in cross-cultural sports initiatives, and more. Study abroad opportunities need to be pre-planned and pre-approved; see the and timeline. These credits are variable between 1-12 credits.

A kinesiology degree offers diverse career opportunities. Here are some example internship locations:

  • Physical therapy aides: Emergence, Destination Rehab, Hands On, Proactive, Rebound, Resolve, Therapeutic Associates
  • Strength and conditioning: Boss Sports Performance, Snap Fittness, Specialty Athletics, Stretch Lab
  • Sports education and coaching: MBSEF, Youth Basketball, Softball, Track, The Center Foundation
  • Health care: Fall Creek Internal Medicine, Mosaic Medical, St. Charles, Summit Health
  • Fitness and wellness: Healing Reins Therapeutic Riding Center
  • Research: Research with OSU-Cascades faculty
